Cathode Blank is one strategic part of leaching and refining of the copper. Today, there are various processes for producing copper from the quarry. Two of the most common methods are leaching and refining processes. In both processes, Stainless Steel Cathode Blanks are inseparable part of copper extraction and production. They are actually the negative poles in the electrolysis process that during this process copper particles from the solution (in leaching) or from the copper Anode surface (in refining) are placed on Cathode Blank surface.
The copper cathode production process in the leaching or refining process lasts about 10 days. Until the volume of copper sitting on the blank cathode reaches its proper level. At this time, the cathodes come out of the pools and the copper is separated from the stainless steel plate by a cathode stripper or manual separators.
The produced copper cathode has gone to the factories producing copper sections to be produced by melting furnaces by-products such as wire, bass bar and other required sections.
It is worth mentioning that Stainless Steel Cathode Blanks are designed according to employer’s needs and cell’s dimensions so they are produced according to each project.
